A friend and co-worker, Ryan May was featured on the front page of the Guelph Mercury as well as the Mercury website today on an interview about his restaurant review site – restaurantica.com.
Restaurantica.com is growing every day, says its 21-year-old Guelph creator Ryan May, thanks to word-of-mouth publicity.
“We light the candle and let the flame get bigger,” said May, a self-taught web developer who works in the computer industry.
Hopefully this will generate more buzz for him as well as get him some investors or something in the site.
If you ever are in Ontario use his site to find a restaurant. If you are on webmasterworld send him a sticky at ryan26 and congratulate him.

Restaurantica is a great idea until your restaurant gets panned by someone who is out to do damage to your business purposely.
A review surfaced about my restaurant recently that clearly showed that the patron was not even here. The meal he reviewed is served only on weekends and not on the week night he says he was present. Then to make matters worse, within the review he recommends a competing restaurant.
As an owner you have no opportunity to respond to these to these attacks and expose them for what they really are. How fair is it to review a restaurant and within the text recommend another?
Doesn’t that say something about the content and purpose. This site is open to a lot of abuse.
